Why haven't they found out what is killing the elephants.

Its the population changing a lot due to the elephant dying.

What are they doing to prevent this from happening.

  1. Because they do not know whats killing them and it is mysterious how all these elephants drop dead-Caleb

  2. I believe it is most likely to be disease, as anything else would be visible nearly immediately. Anthrax seems likely.

  3. Because scientists still have not found the reason behind these animals dying is very concerning. They have examined so many dead elephants already and still don't know what is going on so if they do not find out what is killing the elephants, than this could be very dangerous for the elephant population. This could mean the elephant population could be severally damaged. They need to find the cause quickly so that this doesn't impact that areas habitat too much

  4. It's really difficult to come up with a solution when you don't know the issue. I'm guessing that maybe people just haven't done enough research, but they shouldn't continue to wait because more and more elephants will be dead. -Campbell Marino

  5. I think you could extensively watch the elephants and examine what they do every day and see why they are dying and find some way to prevent it. I think they might not be looking in the correct direction when they are looking for the cause of death which might be the reason why they have not found the cause of the deaths of the elephants.-Kevin Gu

  6. We won't be fully certain on what is killing them until we can develop new methods to test for certain causes of death.

  8. I think the population is going to change not just of the elephants who are clearly dying, but of other animals as well, because as we have learned if one animal population changes it often effects other animals and plants population as well. - Steven Solomon

  9. They haven't found the cause of what is killing the elephants because the deaths do not signify specifically how the animals died. To prevent this from happening they could closely monitor some individual elephants so they see what happens to those ones. -Joe Panthalani

  10. I think they only way for them to be able to prevent what is killing the elephants is to watch them more closely. This is a serious due to the fact that elephants are an endangered species, and need to be protected. I think that is some type of disease that maybe form a new one. This is the same thing that happen with corona because it is technically some type of flu that changed a tiny bit.

  11. I feel like a lot of population can change if elephants die out. Like we learned earlier in the quarter if one species decreases in population then it can change the populations of a lot of there things. It's difficult to find what is wrong with the elephants because this is something they haven't seen before.

  12. elephants i think are already endangered so one thing i guess they are doing to try and help them is bringing them to the zoo so they can live a more fulfilling life.

  15. the problem with finding out whats causing the deaths of the elephants is the deaths are so quick and unnoticed its hard to figure out what caused it - Ryan Smith

  16. The deaths are so quick and plus all of the other logical answers have been ruled out. They need to conduct some test in order to find out what is really the cause to all these elephants dying.-John Ellis

  19. I would think that there must be some sort of disease being transferred either through blood or it is airborne. Poaching would be my first guess, but since that has been ruled out I'm not sure. UNLESS poachers are using some sort of chemical or man-made disease to wipe out elephants, so when they confiscate their tusks it isn't technically considered poaching. -Kendall Dees

  20. Answering question 1; They haven't found the issue with the elephants because they spend their resources on the wrong things. Im sure if you put biometric trackers on a couple hundred of them, as they die, you compare and contrast the data between the sick and healthy and you could make a good estimate why they are dying. Perhaps you can even come up with a vaccine

  21. I think it is hard for them to come up with a solution without knowing what is actually killing them, they should study the bodies to find out if it is possibly a disease killing them all. Lannah
