NASA’s Most Ambitious Mars Mission Yet by Cal Reynolds

By: NASA

A new style Atlas V-541 rocket will carry this rover to Mars. After a gruelling 9 month flight the rover, which has been upgraded from the last rover(Curiosity), will touch down. This high-tech rover will use a wide array of high-tech instruments and 23 cameras to search the Red Planet for evidence of past Microbial life, and collect many surface samples to be returned to earth by a later mission. Unlike previous missions, this one will carry a drone designed for the harsh and unforgiving Martian Atmosphere.

Is space the future savior of humanity?

Do you think Mars be habitable eventually?

Was there past life on Mars? Microscopic or not?

  1. I believe that space could be the future savior of space but it won’t be possible to fully move there for a while. Most likely in the next couple of hundreds of years but not in my generation.

  2. I believe that mars will be inhabitable one day in the future. There will need to be a lot more technology invented however.

  3. I feel like we will eventually be able to live on mars but in like 1000 years

  4. I think that if we have the ability to live on another planet without an atmosphere, oxygen, or anything, then we can live on earth regardless of the circumstances. No matter what I think we will end up being fine. -Gracey Bell

  5. I believe the space will help us out but I don't think it is the right time for us yet because we don't have the correct technology yet. I think Mars if there is water actually found, it can be used as a water source and if it is habitable they will use it once the earth is destroyed and there aren't any more resources. -Gabby Abowitz

  6. i think that if the rover finds water then there could be possbily a sign that humans could live there/ work there -Drew

  7. I think space will eventually save humanity, because after millions of years the Earth won't be able to hold everyone because of the increase in population.

  8. I think there was once life on mars because there is proof that water used to be there. It might have been microscopic but with the right technology, I think humans could be next to live efficiently on mars.

  9. I dont think that Mars is the future savior of hummanity. I think it is much more reassonable to find a way to stay on earth because we know we can survive on earth.

    1. I would agree with your assumptions but, what if all of Earth becomes inhabitable. Like if all glaciers melt and the south pole becomes just as warm as anywhere else what would we do then? I think the best future option is for future tech to find a planet that is inhabitable and start colonizing. -Cal Reynolds

  10. I think once technology is advanced and more people start to think about life on mars, I also think once the earth is at a point of no return there will be people who will want to go somewhere else, maybe people who are rich would help try and discover life on mars/in space. -Elena Appel

  11. I think if space exploration is truly possible in the future, it won't do too much good. With increase in population, lack of resources, and natural problems affecting our world, the idea of space "living" is a bit extreme and out there, when if we put the same amount of effort, interest, and money into our planet, it could help us more. It's interesting to me to think about how space exploration is being heavily focused on in the media, instead of climate change, lack of resources, and over population; how the media focusing more on this gets us excited at the possibility when the dire situations coming up on our world from our own actions could affect humanity first.

  12. I think space is the future of humanity, i belive we will get to some form of wall-e whether its trash everywhere or we just used all the earths resources and the conditions of the envirement have turned to harsh. We will be forced to make a effort to keep humanity alive and space is the only other option.- Adam spizman

  13. Oriana I think mars could possibly be inhabitable. As long as there is water and oxygen for us to breath. We would definitely need for there to be more things there but eventually it could happen. As long as we can get there.

  14. I think that there is a chance for humans in space cause soon enough there isn't going to be enough room for everybody and somehow people are going to have to figure out another place to settle.

  16. Space could possibly be the future savior of humanity. Keyword being POSSIBLY. There are too many unknowns about exploration in space, no space in general to conclude anything about our future in space. Space, could be inhabitable, but how would humanity last without an atmosphere or a stable, constant, renewable, and most importantly, sustainable source of oxygen. Probably not for long. But, with new enhancements and discoveries in science, the discovery of a solution to that problem could be found. But until then, I propose a different approach to space travel. I think a more sensible use for space travel and exploration would be the use of offworld materials and resources on planet Earth. On other planets, it could be possible to find very large masses of gold, for example, and harvest it, and bring it back to Earth. This could be very essential for our future as a planet because constantly, very rare resources, like again, gold for example are being used to make things such as jewelry or other things of the like. But what would happen if we ran out of resources to harvest? That's where space harvesting would come in. Of course it would be far more expensive, but that would most likely be a great benefit because if things are very expensive, the only people who are going to buy it are the ones who actually have a genuinely good use for it. And this could go far beyond just simple resources. With this in mind, I believe that this is the most likely step for space exploration going forward.

  17. I do believe there were forms of microscopic life on mars lots of years ago. I think maybe this robot could find evidence

  18. I think and hope Mars will eventually be habitable so we have an alternative way of life if things here go south. I also think that there may have been life at one point on Mars, but I don't believe it was aliens as we think them to look now.
