Life support in submarines by Gabe Armstrong

Life support in submarines by Gabe Armstrong

When we breathe in air, our bodies consume its oxygen and convert it to carbon dioxide. Exhaled air contains about 4.5 percent carbon dioxide. Our bodies do not do anything with nitrogen or argon. A submarine is a sealed container that contains people and a limited supply of air. There are three things that must happen in order to keep air in a submarine breathable.Stuff that can go worry in a sub is If the percentage of oxygen in the air falls too low, a person suffocates. So if they don’t want to suffocate they have to remove Carbon dioxide from the air if not it will become toxin. Now there are some submarines that can make oxygen out of bubbles.

Q: Do you know how submarines dive down in water and come back up?

Q:Do you know how submarines can make oxygen on their own?

Q:Do you now how they navn

I didn't really think about how subs submerged themselves under water. It's interesting that it's by the use of water and then releasing it.

  2. I think this is definitely an interesting topic, and something I personally want to express is the fact that this is a very exact science and we can't be tossing peoples lives around with unfinished projects like this. I see this as a great opportunity for advancement in the science field.- Shamus Landry

  3. because of the limited amount of oxygen in submarines they must keep track of the amount of carbon dioxide and release enough so the crew does not suffocate -Lilly

  5. I think that they navigate depending on how much oxygen they can hold on a submarine. -Anadia Phillips

  7. I think it is good that we are experimenting to make submarines more advanced. But I think that they need to insure that they are safe, before putting people in danger. - Fagan O'Connor

  8. I wonder how the success of this "recyclable air" may change the world of submarines and how they are used. If recyclable air is successful, then there will be no limit in oxygen, making the possibility of oceanic explorations longer. -Tori Favazza

  9. Its amazing how We are able to have a good impact on the enviroment simply by recycling air, I think this submarine will be a good empact for our future! -Gabby.p

  12. I think its really cool how they sink but how do they come back up if there is no air to help float back to the surface after letting the other air go to sink-Tamara Harmon

  14. Interesting topic. My question is does the amount of oxygen or carbon dioxide have anything to do with how the sub is able to go under the water? It doesn't float. - Juan D

  15. I think tbhat life suppolrt is a very good thing because if someone was too fall pout of the boat or something and then they diont know h9ow to swim then they could easilydir and then if they were to have life support then tbeh would kluvce - Jack OĹeary
