Tsunamis by Jack O'Leary

Tsunamis by Jack O'Leary

In Oregan scientists built a research building for when they know a tsunami will hit soon. Oregan used to have a rule where you cannot build anything to prevent anything in a tsunami zone and that ruled got repealed and then made a 60 million dollar building. The people who had built the building is not very afraid of a tsunami hitting theyre building because they spent 60 million dollars trying to provent tsunamis, and just in case it dfoes at the top of the building there is a 2 day water and good supplu and a firstr aid kit.

Do scientists use tools to know when tsunamis is are going to come?

Do scientists know how big the tsunamis going to be?

How can people/science help prevnt tsunamis from happening?

  1. Oregon had payed 60 million dollar on a building that is supposedly to be tsunami bulletproof.

  2. I think it's idiotic that the rule of not allowing buildings to be built in places where there could be a tsunami has been repealed. Yes, scientists can predict when some tsunami's come, but that doesn't prevent the damage of the tsunami and all the money that went to waste. -Tori Favazza

  3. I think it's interesting that there's a building built for tsunamis in Oregon because tsunamis don't usually affect Oregon. -lizzy raupp

  4. Why would being in high building help from this wave when the building can crash down in force?-Tamara Harmon

  5. I think that if a building like this could really predict tsunamis it would be very beneficial in protecting people. Although, I'm curious as to why this building was built in Oregon, because Oregon does not get Tsunamis. - Fagan O'Connor

  7. Scientists use tools to help predict when tsunamis are going to happen so they can warn people. They built this building as an effort to predict tsunamis. -Lilly Pearson

  8. I know tsunamis are common in Japan, I wonder what system they have been using to stay safe. Just getting to higher ground or safe places?

  9. I think it is interesting Oregon is preparing this hard for tsunamis because The Pacific Northwest is not an area of the United states i would expect to be hit by tsunamis.( Ian Noedel)

  10. i Think if you know of a tsunami and you dont think thaty it is going ot hit you then you need to go away form the tsunami because they can spread in all dircetion and they can aslso go very far away form the sea level. (Jack O'Leary)

  11. I feel like Being more prepared will benefit them, OR maybe moving. Maybe have a well structured building, a tall one, that doesnt have an entrance untill about 50 feet. That way people may be more safer. -Gabby

  14. I have seen tsunami evacuation signs in Oregon when visiting my cousins. Tsunmais can happen because of earthquakes in the Pacific Ocean or along the west coast.
