Microplastic in the Ocean by Lilly Pearson

Microplastic in the Ocean by Lilly Pearson

Plastic is an amazing resource and can be used in many useful ways, but the dangers of it should also be known. The animals in the ocean, specifically small fish confuse microplastic for food and consume it so that as they get eaten and we eat them, we actually end up consuming plastic. Microplastic is any piece of plastic measuring less than 5 millimeters that fish commonly confuse as food. An estimated 90% of table salt contains plastic. The ocean continues to be littered with plastic and it’s hurting the environment and hurting us.

What can we do to help reduce the waste of plastic in oceans or in general?

How could we help stop plastic from getting into the ocean in the first place?

How does it make you feel that on a daily basis you consume plastic? Does that change your viewpoint on plastic in the ocean?
