Shell Shocked by Patrick Rogers

Shell Shocked

New research has been done on the purity levels in the ocean and it has proved that some animals are being harmed by the acidity of the water. In the Pacific Northwest, baby oysters are dying off by the billions due to their tiny shells dissolve before they are fully formed. This acidity comes from industrial activities and burning fossil fuels. People are pumping more and more emissions into the air and a fourth of that is absorbed into the oceans. These causes for the acidity level to rise may become a big problem for seafood we like to eat everyday.

Do you think this problem needs to be fixed?

How could we fix it?

What would happen if all the oysters died off?

  1. Oysters may play a big role in the ocean so it may not be good if they were to just die off.

  4. Oceans play a huge role in our weather and controlling the climate, so I just feel like the damage is going to grow exponentially. Since what happens on land impacts the ocean and what happens in the ocean impacts the land. -Myori
