Scientists Figure Out a New Technology to Chemically Recycle Plastic by Avery Cooper

In Portland, Oregon there is recycling center called Agilyx which is starting to recycle products chemically. While most recycling centers break down plastics into reusable pellets, CFO Bill Cooper explains, ¨So with chemical recycling, we break down plastic to its core building blocks – down to the molecular level.” This new way of recycling could make it easier to reuse plastics that aren't normally recyclable. This new technology is being recognized due to the recent findings of dead whales which were found with 50 pounds and more inside their stomachs. So much plastic is littered in the ocean and environment and causes many deaths to innocent wildlife.

Why does so much plastic end up in the ocean?

How can this new technology help the issue?

Do think St. Louis should/will implement chemical recycling?
