China has recently sent a rover towards the far side of the moon. The last time humans sent anything to the moon was in 1972 when the Apollo 17 arrived. This rover not only successfully landed on the dark side, but they also took a few pictures. The pictures look almost the same as the Earth-faced side, but smoother and less rigid. The name of this rover is Chang’E, named after a chinese moon goddess. Chinese Scientists are hoping to discover details on the moon’s past since no one knows exactly how it formed.

Why did it take so long to reach the dark side of the moon?

How hard is it to attempt to reach the moon?

Is this going to engage other countries into a new space race?

  1. Going to the moon isn't something people care about as much anymore, but it's still interesting to see what the other side is like.

  5. I know to travel throughout space cost billions of dollars and many many many man hours! So going for the moon is very hard with just those 2 factors, and not including the math to make it to the moon.

  10. I don't think it's that great of an accomplishment because what good did we gain from that other than just buring fossil fuels to say they did something. ~ Myori

  11. We've already been to the moon and according to the photos of the dark side it is the exact same as the other side. This wasn't a serious accomplishment because we've already been to space and mars is the next step

  16. I don't think there was any race to reach the dark side of the moon because its the dark side, The US probably didn't need to reach the dark side because the goal was to reach the moon in general.
