Polar Bears Endangered Due to Climate Change by Lindsay Dehn

Polar Bears Endangered Due to Climate Change

Polar bears are classified as marine mammals because they spend most of their lives on ice in the Arctic Ocean. The polar bear population is divided into 19 units, one of these units subpopulation are declining. In the future scientist have estimated a high risk in the entire population due to their environment slowly deteriorating.

This is happening due to climate change, and their habitat is being majorly affected. This is important because polar bears are at the top of the food chain. They play a major role because they are the ones keeping the marine environment life healthy. Their homes are melting and their bodys will be unable to adapt to warmer temperatures. 20,000 to 25,000 polar bears living in the wild. The IUCN reports that the polar ice cap is predicted to completely melt within the next 100 years. This will leave polar bears without a home and will affect the polar bear population greatly.

2. What others animals will this effect is polar bear becomes extinct

3.How will this end up affecting us in the long run?

  1. We are losing the population of polar bears because the ice is melting. This really has to do with global warming. We need to cut down on our carbon footprint to solve this problem.

  2. The issue of the possible extinction of polar bears is just one of many issues arising from global warming. As a society we need to become more aware of the dangers of global warming and know that our actions have consequences.

  3. we could create something if all the ice has melted so all the polar bears don't go extinct.

    1. That is a very high possibility, but very difficult at the same time becasue their enviroment is what they need to survive and to create that artifically would be a lot for them

  4. We need to stop the decline of the polar bear population, and we need to do this by decreasing the rate of climate change and our emissions. We could use these statistics from polar bear population numbers to measure climate change and the rate that the ice caps are melting at. I wonder if we could do anything similar at the other pole of the Earth.

  5. I think that this could be a major problem to our society, because polar bears play such a huge role in the food chain. It would mostly effect animals though. Not as much as humans because we don't eat them, and they don't live here.

  6. We need this planet, this planet doesn't need us. The sooner we realize that we can start recovering

  7. I don't think that penguins will also be effected by this since the ice serves as a habitat for many animals besides the polar bear. Fun fact: polar bear fur isn't white, it's transparent.
