Summary: Nail salons have effects on people and the ecosystem in many ways.




One of the effects nail salons have on people is the nail polish it has an even more effect on the workers since there around it so much. The workers are exposed to chemicals found in glues, polishes, removers, and other dangerous salon products. The customers are exposed to these toxic chemicals when being treated by a nail technician. The chemicals found in these products in nail salons are Toluene, Formaldehyde, Dibutyl Phthalate ,Methacrylate and many more. Without doing the right safety things each day, these chemicals can cause breathing problems, red, irritated eyes, dry, cracked skin, and other health problems. For the workers it even affects them by the positions there in or how there sitting. Working in certain positions or repeating the same motion puts stress on a worker's body and can cause aches and pains. These hazards are often called ergonomic hazards. Aches and pains can be caused by bending over a work table for a long period of time, resting hands, wrists, arm or elbows against hard things or sharp thing on work tables and using doing the same movements over and over again like filing and shaping nails. As far as affecting the environment. After products are used there usually thrown in the landfill.




Always be careful when being around nail polish because the chemicals can be really harmful and can cause severe health problems. At home, nail salon, friends house, any where. Getting your nails can be a good thing also, it can be fun it makes you feel pretty but also be aware.

  1. There are many dangers in a nail salon. If you have been there you know for your self the chemicals smell bad. Unfortunately there is not much we can do. Mabey we could change how we make nail polish.

  2. I never really thought of all of the dangers that were behind the nail salons. We should come up with a way to cut the chemicals and product waste out of the salons.

  4. I wonder what kind of products could be better made so they are less toxic. I don't know much about the fashion and makeup industry but I know there's similar issues with this sort of stuff like the problem of testing on animals.

  7. Even those plastic bags that they put on your legs when they do treatments must produce a lot of garbage. Also those acrilic tips they use when they do nails.
