Fast food and obesity by Gavin Fair



Fast food restaurants around the world are advertising fat foods causing obesity to increase in America. Roughly around 1 out of 3 people will go into a fast food restaurant such as Mcdonalds or Taco Bell. A survey by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that more than 36 percent of adults consume fast food on any given day.

Most of the fast foods contain high amounts of sugars,fats and carbs but leaves out minerals and vitamins. Causing people to take in a lot of unhealthy calories which leads to obesity As per a research conducted by the University of Washington, a diet containing 2000 calories of fast food costs much less than a diet with 2000 calories of healthy food. This makes it more affordable than going for healthy food and is a leading cause of obesity in lower-income classes.

  1. We need to cut down on the sizes that we serve in our fast food chains. Heathy food prices also need to go down so there is and option between healthy and unhealthy food.

  3. Fast food chains have been linked to obesity and poverty because it is a very cheap way to get calories, although I is very unhealthy. This is a very sad reality, and I believe we need to find a way to ensure poor people a way to gain all daily nutritional values to better their lifestyles and health.

  6. i feel as if people eat fast foods because its good and they want to. They very well know what effects it has on there body and they still chose to do it. its not the fast food places fault all there trying to do is make money.

  7. The amount of fast food places in America is alarming. They've taken over the food industry, but people still rely on them for the cheap food. The obesity issue can't be solved if we don't solve the hunger issue first.

  8. Fast food places need to cut down the amount of food they're serving and healthy food prices need to be cut down more so its more affordable to buy.

  10. I agree their is a huge amount of obesity issues in America. I do believe it is terrible, i travel a lot and the most junkfoody country. Like every street corner u get a McDonalds, wendy, burger king. And it isn't bad its just you need to control your self.
