Hits, not concussions, cause chronic traumatic encephalopathy by Bennett Johnson

Researchers have gathered evidence of early Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) after head impact without having a concussion. They further went on with research of athletes brains that had recently had head impact and proteins in blood vessels in the brain were shown after head impact, and those signs were not shown in athletes with a concussion. They went in to do this research on mice and found the same result as well as the athletes. They also found out that the things that cause concussions aren’t exactly the same things that happen with head impact leading to CTE. Concussions and head impact injuries that are connected to CTE are different because when head impact occurs blood vessels get damaged and bleed causing CTE concussion is inclination from the damaged blood vessel but it’s isn’t bleeding They went on to say that they were trying to make a scan to be able detect CTE early on in athletes. They also said that the only way to slow down cases of it are to limit head impact in sports but they also realized that it’s nearly impossible to stop things like that happening.
What ways can the NFL prevent these had injuries?
Is it possible to change regulations without ruining the game?
Can we even prevent this from happening in football?

This can be very dangerous if we don't start to implement a safer way for football players to hit each other. This brain disease can cause players to go crazy and might commit suicide.

Already is a problem that we have with former football players
DeleteI feel that this is a huge issue that we need to be addressing, Football seems to be more of a danger to players then it is a benefit. The fact that we cannot even tell if a person suffers from CTE until they are dead is a huge issue because if we don't know a person suffers with CTE, threes no way to help them.

I have seen a lot of TV shows and documentaries about this condition and I think that it is a huge problem. Quality of life goes way down and I think it has a direct connection to this specific sport. _Olamde Ayeni

ReplyDeleteI personally feel like you can solve this problem very much. The only thing they could do is make better helmets. I don’t think they should change the game due to this
otherwise people would not watch it.we need to find better technology to find the difference between a concussion and a head injury. Once this works we should use it everywhere.
I wonder how this would affect sports. I don't think we can do much about it without changing a lot of rules, which would probably be met with a lot of opposition. We should strive to make sports as safe as possible without taking away the entertainment or the hard work that the athletes dedicate to it.

Is there any way to identify this problem that can occur in the brain before the damage has been done from it?
ReplyDeleteI hear that NFL were trying to make a better helmet with sensors in it to detect any harmful head trauma.
ReplyDeletei feel as if once you put you self out there on the field your putting your self at risk for many health related problems. I think football players forget that getting brain damage is a possibility. I think they get there mind rapped around the hype and the money. I think its a big problem on the field and i feel like it needs to be resolved as soon as possible.

Football as a game is dangerous in nature, the players know exactly what they're into by stepping on that field. When something dangerous is practiced regularly then injuries are bound to happen
