Global warming is changing the climate causing more wildfires by Ty Long

Global warming is changing our world causing moisture and precipitation levels to change. Which means wet areas become more wet and dry areas to become more dry. Hotter summer temperatures and earlier spring snowmelt can cause soil to even more dry which if struck by lightning or human causes can start violent and longer lasting wildfires. The el nino events can also play a role in moisture and precipitation levels to change.

El Nino events is the large-scale ocean-atmosphere and climate interaction linked to periodic warming in sea surface temperatures.

Although some dry grasslands are not in danger of wildfires because of the lack of moisture which means that some of the grass aren’t able to grow. With that being the land is barren meaning that it is too poor to produce any vegetation which leads to wildfires not being able to start. We also have to think about the economic cost of wildfires which costs millions of dollars per year. Not only is there already air pollution but wildfires now can affect that which can lead to the endangerment of our lungs and cause breathing difficulties even to those who are healthy. Not only are the wildfires dangerous but they can cause a flash flood warning because loss of vegetation and the inability of burned soil to absorb moisture can cause floods in the lower areas. Last but not least one of the main causes for wildfire is sadly the daily human activities from the greenhouse gas emissions which raises the global temperatures and causes to change the climate.

Where do you think most wildfires occur?

Why might it be that global warming is causing wildfires?
How can we prevent less air pollution?

  2. I think that most wildfire occur in forest areas with high temperatures. Finding a way to prevent wildfires in general would be a great contributor in stopping part of air pollution.

  4. Wildfires probably occur in dry areas with a lot of vegetation. Global warming is making global temperatures rise, which makes it easier for fires to stay burning. Pollution can be prevented by using sustainable and renewable energy and also being aware of the waste we produce. We can also use less plastic and other non recyclable materials.

  6. Wildfires are extremely destructive and dangerous, especially in the state of California. They lead to a mass production of pollution that affect global warming. Wildfires destroy land, homes and wildlife and are extremely detrimental to the environment.

  7. Global warming is a huge problem causing these huge dangerous out of control wild fires due to the ground being so dry and dry air and also the extreme heat

  8. Wildfires are naturally, (and sometimes unnaturally) started in dry areas with plenty of dead vegetation. A key area most people think of when wildfires come to mind, is California, as most of the state is comprised of desert.

Global Climate Change can be a large influence on the starting of wildfires, as raising global temperatures directly result in the drying of vegetation, which is what fires feed on.

By planting more trees, we can remove CO2 from the environment, as trees are great carbon sinks.

  11. more fires are staring because how dry the world is getting and it's getting hard to keep the fire in one place
